actually yesterday was undertale's anniversary but w/e, my computer crashed last night when i was making this
so i had to redo it

so undertale's a p cool game and i'm proud of toby for making it but like
oh my god the fandom is one of the worst i have ever seen
like i've tried to remove myself from it as much as possible
so i can just quietly observe
it's up there with fnaf bad fandom-wise

if you'd like to discuss it in the comments i'd be more than happy to do that

and sadly i agree with you about the fandom, somewhat. a dear friend of mine on tumblr drew sans in a mobster-like pinstripe suit and immediately got a deluge of death threats and other sheer nastiness simply because "mafia au" was "somebody else's idea". given her delicate mental health i was seriously worried about her. she struggles hard with depression and doesn't need anyone telling her to go kill herself, not at all! especially when sharing her art with people is one of the very few things that still gives her joy!

fortunately, i think that in a lot of fandoms like this - homestuck, fnaf, undertale - it's more a function of something's popularity. i think the % of jerks is probably about the same - it's just that the same percentage, from a group of large people, is going to be a larger group, and often these people get very loud and 'take over' a fandom. it's sad to see it happen, but doesn't mean the fandom is lost forever, thank goodness. seek out the good people who are being quiet, and use them to insulate yourself from the bad, and it's quite nice!
