The Mounted Gladiatorial Games

Postby The wild one » Fri Dec 16, 2011 6:22 pm

A picture for my forum game called "The Mounted Gladiatorial Games". It's a game where people can compete to become the best modern day gladiator. But there will be characters who will be killed during the games, so there is no guarantee that a person will stay in the games for the year.
If anyone is interested, the link to the game is in my signature. The thread explains the game in more detail.

Now, onto the picture.
This has to be one of the best horse drawings I have ever done ono. I was doing my best to make it semi-realistic, and I think it worked, actually =D.
And just so you know, that white-green stuff it just horse spit. Horses tend to drool when the bit has been in their mouth for a while, and the green colour comes from the hay he had ben eating before the round started. And if you can't tell, this horse's rider was the loser in the round, which is why there is a little bit of blood on the saddle, and his reins are pulled down pretty far.

That movie was what taught me how to draw horses properly, so my way of drawing is still similar to the movie's style. This horse is a bay, however, not a buckskin like Spirit. And he's a tame horse, not a wild one.

Beautiful golden bay. Any lighter and he would be a Peanut Butter dun or a Buckskin. Either way, I see little fault! The horse's neck has a slight dent at the connection point of his chest and neck. That should be fixed. The chin is a little pointed(Like Starscreams! XP), but that is of no worry. Many cartoon horses have that.

I instantly thought Spirit when I saw this wonderful stallion. It looked like he was mad after what's-his-face tried to tame him and ride him.

Yeah, I noticed that little bump just earlier today. Not sure why it's there; it's probably from my shaky hand. I made this at about 1 in the morning last night, so I don't think I noticed anything while I was doing it xD. I'll probably fix it later, though. It kinda bothers me e.e
Well, this guy's not mad, just really tired and glad that he has a chance to stand still for a little while Cx. I thought of the same scene when I finished this drawing, but I didn't really think much of it (once again, you can blame my zombified state that I was in while finishing this xD.)

I know how you feel. >.< You have pretty good horse anatomy! Horses are the most beautiful but hardest animals to draw, but you did well. Thumbs up to you!
