Sparta was hit by a car Oct. 28, 2011. I had had him since sometime in 2010 when I adopted him from the Humane Society in Lincoln, NE. About 6 months after I adopted him, a cat showed up at our farm that looked exactly like Sparta. We named him Griffin, and they would always sleep together. Sparta's adopted brother, a black cat named Prince, would sleep with them too. Now Sparta is buried beneath the swaying trees in our one-acre forest. He has a headstone (a rock with sharpie on it) that says "Only the good die young," for when I got him he was about a year old. Since then, I have been seeing little signs of his love--Griffin (Sparta's look-alike), who is really quit shy and stiffens up when you hold him, was purring and carrying on just like Sparta did this morning. I also saw a little heart in the wood of my wooden deck.
