The best thing to do is look at domestic cats,videos of big cats,anything thats a cat.See how they move,their proportians,what bones go where.Skeletons before you draw always help!I even use them sometimes still.

Big cats can put their tails up, but this is usually for non PG type purposes such as marking territory or attracting a mate they can also throw their tails up in adgitation. here are two small picture that is the best i could find that didn't show too much ^^

so on and so forth for all big cats ^^

for big cats their hip joints are prominent in some poses more so than and as well as domestic, but it is true that they wouldn't show for a heathy domestic cat in that pose :3
