if you draw cats paws like and L then they seem too stiff and unnatural. they actually curve a little, and although cats do sometimes stand like L it suggests little movement and your picture looks weird...

I saw a lolcat where someone had drawn a smiley face on a cats foot... that always helped me remember the shape...jellybean toes! ^^

urmm....I think the rest is a bit self explanatory... but learning the bones and how the claw-sheathing stuff works is really helpful (I didn't search it...I was playing with my cat and I noticed that putting pressure in-between the pads spread the paw out and unsheathed the claws.... I didn't hurt my cat in any way, she was asleep at the time, and I was very careful )

haha yeah that's how the vet clip's the cat's nails
if you put pressure on the right spot they unsheath their claws :p
