I love it. I love dragons as much as I do horses and I am glad to see you got moved to intermediate, you deserve it.
Very good job getting the tribal marking to be in the right position standing straight... as it goes back as is in Tess's dragon, the tribal marking tick tocks like a clock and you have it in exactly the right position for standing straight.
This is one of the best "beginner" turned intermediate I have seen on CS. That being said:
You asked for critiques and I didn't find that anyone did any, so here's some tips. Not criticisms, please don't take this note that way.
1. The first thing that caught my eye was the color on the mane and tail. Tess's dragon has 2 base colors and shading and lighting therein, she even has a couple little spiky pieces right where the hair starts..
2. The shoulder seems to have a little too much dark, it's at the wrong angle, that rear shoulderblade should come down a little straighter giving less shadow.
3. The rear leg should have a slight shadow in front of it where it ties into the flank.
4. The Tess marking that is rectangular (ish) in her dragon it ties right in front of the rear leg and in yours it's actually going down the middle of the leg and it made it so you cluldn't put in the other triangular marking. Think of it this way, in Tess's dragon it's leg is stretched way back, hence the rectangular marking is rectangular. Your dragon is standing straight, hence the marking would squish in to a squashed looking square instead of a rectangle.
5. If you look very very closely at the tess dragon, that isn't just a lighter marking on the horns, it's almost a scale pattern, bumps if you prefer, like real horns. Also, you forgot the shadow of the horn on the mane.
6. On bgs, yes, everyone seems to agree bgs are the hardest part. Flames have some brighter light in them.. almost white sometimes. yellow is better, a very light yellow. There's sometimes little chunks that break off and become little flames in themselves til they burn out. Maybe the reason this BG is flames is that Tess's little dragon got angry? LOL
Hope this helps you in your future endeavors, we all look forward to seeing more.
