I once had a family
With many brothers and sisters
We sat in the bushes,
Munching juicy leaves,
and waiting for mum.
But she never came.
Soon,
My siblings ate more and more,
and finally wrapped themselves into cocoons.
I stayed the same.
Soon, they emerged, and flew off gracefully,
wanting to have caterpillar babies of their own.
I waited for their return.
But they never came.
And I stayed the same.
I don't want to be here forever.
So even today,
I ask myself,
Why can't I fly?
With many brothers and sisters
We sat in the bushes,
Munching juicy leaves,
and waiting for mum.
But she never came.
Soon,
My siblings ate more and more,
and finally wrapped themselves into cocoons.
I stayed the same.
Soon, they emerged, and flew off gracefully,
wanting to have caterpillar babies of their own.
I waited for their return.
But they never came.
And I stayed the same.
I don't want to be here forever.
So even today,
I ask myself,
Why can't I fly?
