well i have the most troble with backgrounds it always leaves the character with white around him/her and im not so sure i under stand how layers work on a normal picture

It takes time and patience! You've gotta start somewhere.

And I'm not the best at explaining, but I'm sure you come find some written explanation or even a video that could tell you how layers work

This is very good Psythen you are getting better ^_^.
Crit: You need to darken the shadow on the front leg just a little more so it gives it more depth and just like some else said in some places you need to round your smudging to give it more depth as well like on the chest area as one. Other than that it is awesome!
