I have wanted to try to draw this again for a while, and just haven't gotten around to it.
For my dragons, the babies start out with wings that are too small, and unable to fly. The Dragon is around 3-4 months old, so it's about 1/8 the size of a full sized dragon, so it will be full-grown when it is about 2 years (for females, males continue to grow for until about 2 years 6 months, as they tend to grow larger than females), but not a full maturely until 5 years old. As the dragon grows, the ears become larger, as to find it's prey easily. It's head grows only only slightly larger as it's brain develops slowly (yet the dragon has great intelligence for it's size ), and is roughly double the size of this youngling's.
The dragon's head grows in proportion to it's flexible shoulders, as anywhere the head can fit, the rest of the dragon can fit as well (with the wings pinned down to the side). It develops the hard armor-like underbelly to protect it's underside from other dragons, and humans. It's scales become harder to withstand it's own powerful flames that it can unleash at a moment's notice to enemies along side it's back (as it turns its head without restraint) without any worry to self-inflicted burns.
Eventually it's wings become large enough for self-sustained flight, to chase down prey, and as a mode for transportation. It's legs (which at this angle you can't see) become long and muscular, and if need be can run faster than a horse. It's trusty tail is about 1/3 to nearly the same length of it's body. In flight the tail acts as a rudder, and a counterbalance. On the ground it is a lethal weapon swinging around at any time.
*looks this post over* wow I write too much. >.> Anyway: this is my dragons! Oh- and this baby dragon is male.
Feel free to comment, anything from "wow! this looks cool..." or "I like how the ______ look..." to "I think that you may need to work on..." ANY SENSE OF FEEDBACK IS GREATLY WANTED!
I really appreciate constructive criticism : )
