This is for the "Bothered" Prompt! Neveya's big mad about struggling to learn her magic, and feeling like she's stuck in one place.

This is a more detailed description of the scene above and I'm redeeming it for the "Talk about a time you struggled to use your magic, and what you did to overcome it." Prompt!

Kieran and Neveya are both struggling with their magic, but in the end decide that maybe this is a part of their journeys and the best thing they can do is to just keep trying.

Kieran stood in the training area in the centre of town, they nervously looked down at their paws, they'd been practising for months with directing already-lit flames and divining through fire, but they had never actually lit a flame from scratch, frankly they were far to worried that all their fur would burst into flames... They could see it in their mind now... They'd become a walking fireball, fire dancing across their whole body! Kieran shuddered. They gathered up some kindling, dried grasses and twigs. They stared down at it, standing more than far enough away, frozen in fear... The seconds ticked by, each minute stretching to what felt like eternity, still they couldn't bring themself to start the fire. Yes it was only a spark they needed to light the kindling, but fur wasn't that dissimilar to kindling...
They started to spark a spark into the kindling, their front paws grew warmer, they knew this was normal so they tried to push through. As their paws grew hotter, they just couldn't bring themself to stop worrying about their fur. They even thought they might have smelt a small bit of smoke on their paws...
They let out a tense sigh, "Maybe tomorrow," they said as they shook their head, defeated by their fear yet again...
They began to make their way up the mountain road, maybe Neveya was having more luck with her magic...

She stood in a grassy patch near her home, and planted her four paws into the grass, as sturdy as she could get herself. The sun had just ducked below the horizon, the sky was painted hues of purples and blues. Frowning, she focused her energy on summoning a spectre. She'd read that dusk might have been the best time for this, the world between the day and the night. The four legendary magics stood the strongest at different times, the weakest point between the Sun's energy and the Moon's energy was when life and death stood strongest. New life took the time of dawn, and the ends of life took the time of dusk. Calling her attention back to her task, she willed the spectre into existence hoping that her efforts might finally come to fruition. She groaned, trying to put her everything into calling this spirit forth. She didnt care who or what she called, just... anyone...
Nothing...
She let out a frustrated sigh "Months! and still nothing! Months of work and I still can't get it..." Her voice trailed off. By the time she had reached this point in her magic journey, she was a little lost, she'd found a sense for when animals might be near the end, but since that development, she'd hit a standstill, she just hadn't had any sort of luck with the next skill the book described...
She returned home, maybe she'd missed something in her book.

"Hey, Neveya..." they gently called, "are you alright?" Kieran walked up to the entrance of Neveya's home
"Yeah. I am. Mostly." They weren't sure why she sounded so fed up with things today.
"Are you sure? You don't seem to be super happy...?" they gently inquired, worried about their friend.
"It's fine, I just... Nothing's going right with my magic... I just can't get it..." A sadness filled her eyes, betraying how defeated she was feeling.
Kieran sighed "Oh Nev, if it's any consolation,I haven't been having much luck either... I can't even bring myself to light kindling... '' Kieran let out his own defeated sigh, "maybe that's just part of learning magic , maybe it kinda forces you to confront the things we struggle with. If not everyone, its at least part of our paths..." Kieran offered up their best explanation.
"That's easy for you to say, at least you can pinpoint what your issue is. Mine doesn't make any sense, and it's not exactly like I can ask any elders about it like you can." Neveya replied, frustrated about her standstill.
Kieran was taken back by the harshness in her voice, it wasn't like her to lash out like that... "Neveya... I know it's hard, but it's okay, I'd say these things can't be rushed, and remember, Legendary magics are a lot harder than others. That's might be why it's hard?"
The two sat in silence for just a moment. "ooh! I have an idea! Neveya, what if you learn a common magic, so magic isn't always so hard??
"Maybe that would help... I'll think about it... " She still sounded tense, but a little less frustrated.
They sat together in silence for a short time, before Neveya let out a sigh "Thank you Kieran, I'm sorry for getting frustrated like that, and kinda ignoring your struggles too... I think you're right about magic challenging us in ways we won't expect," her frustration continued to fade as she thought about things more clearly, " Kieran, I think we'll get things figured out eventually..."
