Cinder and Jester my beloveds <3
How she convinced him to join her in this plan, he had no idea. But now that he was in, he was hooked. “Come on! It’s just around here” The odd lioness said, leading the way to her base of operations. Cinder’s eyes widened as she pulled back some vines, revealing the cave she’d claimed as her base for a while now. The cave was surrounded with so many shining crystals, it was like nothing he’d ever seen before! But that wasn’t why they were here. As he stood in awe looking around her cave, his companion busied herself with gathering the pots and bowls of pigments she needed for their plan, “Alright! I’ve got the stuff! Let’s go” the lioness said, an ever growing mischievous glint in her eyes. And with that Cinder was pulled once more, the two of them running back toward the camp where the majority of the pride lived. “So run me through it again, what are we trying to do?” Cinder asked “We’re adding some color to this place!” Jester responded with a grin, “I’ll admit, this place does have a ‘natural beauty’ to it, but come on! Other than the odd bug or flower it’s all just a bunch of green and brown. Where I’m from, we had plants of every color you could imagine! And they even glowed at night!” “Like fireflies? Or the portal?” “Exactly! So, why not surprise the pride with a splash of color when everyone wakes up” With that, he was convinced. Jester’s enthusiasm was just too powerful, and it sparked a bit of mischief within himself that he had hidden, the pride was in for it now. The two tried to keep their giggling down as they ran around camp painting leaves and tree trunks and whole swaths of grass in an array of vibrant colors. They spent the whole night, and what a night it was! When the rest of the pride finally woke, they saw the giant mess that was made. It was definitely… something, though in a way it was beautiful in its chaos. As the pride searched around to see the full extent of the ‘prank’ they happened upon the two culprits. Covered in paint and pigments, curled up and fast asleep in the middle of it all. That mischievous smile still on their sleeping faces. (393)
