Last installment of funky dream horses, we'll soon be back to our regularly scheduled program.
The pixel brush was fun but I don't have enough experience with it to get the lighting the way I want it. The custom brush I used was definitely my favorite of these three drawings. This is also an idea of what the shift world looks like, it's greyscale and there's not really any large amounts of light aside from the horses' manes+tails.

Skulls
In the first drawing you may have noticed that the horse has a skull on his head. Aside from it offering protection, (and looking rad with their glowing white eyes) it has an actual purpose. Mainly it is used a war symbol. On occasion the horses will have to fight and the best way to get across the fact that they are more than possible than winning is just simply wearing someone else's bones. The bones never belonged to a living animal (though they're believed to have been modeled after some ancient animals' skull) and can be summoned at will by the horses. They also work as a guide for their power. When fighting with a rider they have the ability for some kinda magic to be shot out of the skulls.
Names
None of the horses have actual names. Their excuse for this is just simply that when you live as long as they do you don't really have a use for them, plus "names are a human thing". This doesn't stop them from adopting the names that their riders have given them. Over the years that have been given many names by their riders, but the ones that have stuck when referring to themselves were given to them by their first riders. The horse in the first drawing is called "The Horse of Death", the second drawing horse is "Third", and this one is called "Second". They had been named after the degree of concern you should feel if you see one. If The Horse of Death is spotted you could assume that a meteorite is going to come to Earth and possibly not be wrong. But if little Timmy spots Third then his goldfish may have just died. Other common names include "1", "2", and "3" or "blue", "orange", and "green".
I think I got everything, I had fun writing about these guys, it's been about two years since I last thought about this trio.
Thanks if you read any of this, I don't know if I can call it my idea or not since my sleeping mind made it up, but either way I'm happy if anyone enjoyed the concept. (:
Feel free to ask any questions if you would like to.
