I kind of have a thought about JayBriar. When Jay is in his Jay Wing form and with the ancient cats, he loved Half moon. well, I can kind of see the similarities in personalities between Half and Briar, so maybe Briar reminded Jay so much of Half and that's why he cares for her so deeply.
