Every time I try to use the fill bucket, it leaves these white lines around the color. How do I fix this?

try using different layers. create your lines on a separate layer from the background as well as the color. make sure the layer for the color is underneath the layer for the lines. then you can just color it in and you wont have to worry about coloring over the lines.
edit: personally, i dont use the fill bucket tool. i just use the pen tool.
