I'm a big fan of arpg over on deviantART, and I really want to try my hand at making one here on Chickensmoothie! However, I want to know the level of interest, and what people might want from it.
What is an arpg?
ARPG stands for Art RolePlay Game. ARPG, at it's core, is a game that is played through art!
Examples of ARPG's include Draco Stryx and Felvargs.
ARPG's are almost always centered with the focus on one species. To participate in the ARPG, one creates artwork of theirs or others' creatures in return for rewards such as experience 'points' which typically have some special name, such as Ascension Points or Hierarchy Points, for example. Additionally, some people gain in-game cash for their work, which can be exchanged for items to use on your creatures.
How would an ARPG work on ChickenSmoothie?
The 'hub' of the species would be hosted in the Adoptable section of the Oekaki, where the main 'imports' would be promoted from that base. A clear guide to the basics of the species would be listed under the hub, with more detailed guides for various parts of the ARPG being linked to.
The experience system would be for owners of a character in question, and all art or writing done about / for that creature stacks up over time to 'rank' it up to a new tier, providing bonuses for the creature.
The currency system would be for anyone, and there would be ways to earn currency whether or not you were an owner of a creature. You would earn additional currency for, say, gifting artwork of an existing creature to someone else.
The species would be genetics-based, but with a large space for unique designs to show through, so that no two characters look the same.
Additional systems, such as breeding, designing, etc, would be discussed further if there was an interest here on ChickenSmoothie.
What am I asking from you, the reader?
To provide feedback! It can be as simple as an 'I'm interested' or go more into detail. What kind of species would you want to see on here? Canine, feline, equine, or something else entirely? Do you have concerns about the ARPG? These are all questions you could answer, if you so chose.
If this doesn't get enough interest, I probably won't do it, because an ARPG needs active members to be successful. However, I do hope there are some interested, because I would sincerely love seeing the love of ARPG be spread to ChickenSmoothie, one of my favorite sites on the web <3
