"I saw the light fade from the sky
On the wind I heard a sigh
As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers
I will say this last goodbye
"Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea
"Under cloud, beneath the stars
Over snow one winter's morn
I turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
"Many places I have been
Many sorrows I have seen
But I don't regret
Nor will I forget
All who took the road with me
"Night is now falling
So ends this day
The road is now calling
And I must away
Over hill and under tree
Through lands where never light has shone
By silver streams that run down to the sea
"To these memories I will hold
With your blessing I will go
To turn at last to paths that lead home
And though where the road then takes me
I cannot tell
We came all this way
But now comes the day
To bid you farewell
"I bid you all a very fond farewell"

Oh boy, clouds are my bane. As is shading, lighting, water, etc... Pretty much everything about this picture, except maybe the sky. XD
But anyway, this is more of a bittersweet vent piece. I graduated from (and left) university last year after completing a three-year zoology degree, however most of my friends were doing four-year degrees. I went to visit them on several occasions throughout the year and it really felt like nothing had changed between us, despite now being separated.
This week just gone I was privileged enough to attend my friends' graduation ceremonies. It was a wonderful week, filled with celebration, laughter and happiness! But after it was over I boarded my first, of four, trains home and as I stared out the window across the sea it hit me: that's it. It's over. The best three/four years of my life: gone, just like that. I'll admit I cried (a lot- kinda embarrassing on a public train XD ) as I watched the familiar coastline vanishing into the distance, but not purely out of sadness alone. No, it was more... bittersweet than that. I made so many happy memories, with so many wonderful people, that I was awash with them all. I know, I'm an emotional little bean. X'D
This song just seemed to fit the mood perfectly. My friends and I will inevitably part ways to start on our own paths through life, but I will never forget the lessons they taught me and we can always stay in touch thanks to social media.
Thank you everyone. I indeed bid you all a very, very fond farewell (but not a goodbye
).
