Zìyóu jogged quietly through the mist filled forest in the crisp morning air. His movements were fluent and smooth, though his mind was groggy and sluggish from lack of sleep. Teeki slept on his back, the light churrs of his snoring ringing through the air like a tiny silver bell. Zìyóu yawned and shook his head, pausing a moment to stretch and look around. The babbling of a creek caught his attention and he padded to the water. In hopes of waking up further, Zìyóu knelt down and dunked his head inside the icy water. Immediantly, he yanked his head up and staggered to his feet, shaking his head violently. Teeki cracked open an eye to glare at him for a moment before closing it again and carrying on with his morning slumber.
Across the creek, a grey Viscet stood, watching Zìyóu with an eyebrow raised. "I'm pretty sure that's not how you drink water."
Zìyóu's froze and stared at her in shock and slight embarrassment. "Ah, I...uh... I know... I was just trying to wake up."
"Didn't get much sleep?"
"No..."
"Understandable, I suppose. I'm Bīra."
"Zìyóu, this is Teeki."
Bīra glanced at the sleeping bird before turning her eyes to the silver tag on his leg. "What's that?"
"Oh, I'm not too sure..." Zìyóu looked down at it and shook his leg slightly. "Some humans kidnapped me when I was younger. I can't take it off..."
"Let me take a look."
Zìyóu stiffened as Bīra crouched and studied the tag, muttering under her breath. Finally, she rose and looked at him. "I've seen these before, mainly on birds though. It helps them keep track of where your going and where you've been. In a birds case, it helps the bird to be returned to their rightful owner if lost.""
"Oh..well, I'm not a bird..."
"Clearly. They must've wanted to see what you were up to."
"Perhaps..."
"So, where are you from?"
"China."
Bīra's ears flicked up. "Really?"
"Yeah."
"What was it like there?"
"Peaceful, whenever I wasn't being hunted. Most of the people were nice too..."
"How did it look?"
"It was beautiful. Flowers and large trees everywhere... And the scents..."
Bīra smiled. "I've always wanted to visit there."
Zìyóu's ears flicked up and he smiled. "I can take you there. Next time I go, I'll look for you first!"
Bīra smiled at him. "That sounds like a plan. Until then!"
Zìyóu nodded. "Until then."
