Zìyóu walked through the forest quietly, gazing at the lumbering trees around him with the shell of a dead glow stick in his paw. Teeki flew ahead, enjoying the warm breeze that swept just above the tree tops. Zìyóu looked up and watched him as he walked until his foot snagged on something, and the viscet tumbled to the ground with a squeak of surprise. He looked behind him and saw a silvery viscet stand up and tilt her head. Something seemed odd about this one... the front of her mane was taller, fluffier, and reminded him of a bird he had seen a while ago. "Oh dear, are you okay?" She leaned toward him as he got up, studying him with curious eyes.
"Yes, that was my bad. I'm sorry about that..." When he was fully on his feet, Teeki landed on his shoulder and fluffed his feathers. Instantly, the viscets eyes lit up.
"Is that a Cape Sugarbird?!"
"Yes, his name is Teeki..."
"Wow! He's so handsome, isn't he, Sushi?"
Zìyóu cocked his head and glanced about. Sushi? Maybe it was a friend of hers?... After failing to notice any other creatures, he returned his gaze to he viscet.
"I'm Petra."
"Hello, my name is Zìyóu."
"Nice name." Petra's tail waved happily and she smiled at him.
"Thank you, it means Free."
"Cool! This is Sushi." She gestured with her head to the right, though he failed to see anything there. "He's one big goldfish, huh?"
Zìyóu's mind slowly connected the dots, and he smiled. "Yes he is, the biggest!" Though he did not know what she was talking about, he played along for her sake.
Petra smiled cheerfully at his recognition of the invisible fish. "Where are you going?"
"No where in particular, I'm just roaming now."
"Sounds like fun."
"It can be. It's nice to have Teeki's company too."
"I bet! I can't imagine what it would be like without Sushi." Petra smiled at nothing Zìyóu could see and looked up at the sky. The taller part of her mane shot up in shock and she jumped slightly. "Oh no! Why didn't you tell me, Sushi? I'm sorry, I have to go or I'll be late!" She began to run off, glancing back and calling out to him for only a moment. "It was nice to meet you two! And I know you can't see Sushi! He's a ghost!"
Zìyóu blinked and listened to her bubbly laughter fade as she moved farther away. He couldn't help but feel like a fool as he turned and carried on with his path, ignoring Teeki's cheerful churing from his shoulder.
