Zìyóu trudged through the drying meadow, panting in the summer heat. On his shoulder, Teeki laid stretched out, every feather extended as he strained to cool down. Zìyóu smiled a bit a the small bird and looked ahead, his ears pricking up at the sound of a voice. He quickened his pace to a jog and went toward the voice, pausing at the sighting of a tan and white Viscet whos tail was caught beneath a fallen tree. She snarled and thrashed, tugging at the limb and shoving her weight against the tree only to worsen her situation. "Hey!" Zìyóu padded toward her, hesitating only for a moment when she glared daggers at him. "It's okay, I want to help you. Just hold still."
Zìyóu crouched onto all fours and pressed the top of his head against the tree and began counting down in his head. At three, he pushed with all his remaining energy, raising the tree just enough for the Viscet to slip her tail free, after which he dropped it promptly and staggered to his feet, panting heavier now.
"Thank you. Your name is?..."
"Zíyóu."
"Hello. My name is Kane."
"Well hello there Kane. How's your tail?"
"On fire, but doing better."
"Well....that's good?"
Kane nodded sharply, studying him all the while. "Where are you from?"
"China. Why?.."
"It's apparent that your a foreigner."
"Really?.."
"Yes. Your actions, appearance, even the way you walk. Not to mention the fact that your panting so heavily when this is actually rather cold for me."
"Oh... That makes sense I guess."
Kane watched him for a moment. "Well, it was nice to meet you, and thank you for your help. I should be getting back home, though."
"That's understandable. Have a good night."
"Good luck going where your going." She turned away and trotted off to where he assumed her pack was.
"Well she was nice."
Teeki made a sarcastic churring noise and Zìyóu shot him a glare before turning away and padding along to nowhere.
