There the red is duller, there are less prominent scales. In other words.
On the hands and feet, the scales are the most intense. If the scales on his nose were plates, these ones are like shields. The scales cover the entirety of his hands and feet, and give him dangerously sharp claws. The scales go up with wrists and ankles a bit, but not much. They end up evening themselves out into the skin after only a few centimeters.
On the upper side of his arms, and to a little lower then his collarbone are the plates that were seen on his face reference. These are the only places that they rest, making them slightly... rarer, then his face ref. They even themselves out into smaller scales, and, eventually, the skin.
Everywhere that is lighter (the entirety of his spine, right under his rib cage, and side of legs, as well as upper side of arms), there are the smaller, fish-like scales. These ones look fragile, but as a team are quite strong. They tend to shed frequently, leaving an enormous mess wherever the dragon lurks around, like his bedroom or study.
