The fight lasted ten minutes. She laid on the ground as he tore at her side. Blood poured from her... She didn't know what she did wrong. All of a sudden a police car pull up behind the abandoned warehouse. All of the dog fighters were arrested, and the male dog was put to sleep at the scene. The female dog still lay there... Helpless and half dead.
Three months later she recovered, but was still scared. Not only her entire body, but her heart as well. She hid from every other dog, and ran from people. The animal rescue put her up for adoption anyways. When people came to adopt, they looked at the pit bull and thought about how she ought to be killed or muzzled. They passed her kennel without a second glance.
After two weeks, no one had adopted her. A woman came up to her kennel. This woman had become her friend, so she walked up to the bars, her tail slowly wagging. The woman looked away and cried, instead of promising her a new home soon like she usually did. Her tail stopped wagging. The woman opened the kennel door and put a leash around her neck. She always talked to her, but this time her words were sad... yet assuring.
"No one came for you. No one wanted to love you here. You deserved the best life a dog could have, after all you went through." She pet her head and kissed her nose. "So you will get the best. You're going to a place where all are loved. You'll never experience pain again." Tears poured through the woman's eyes as she spoke, and the dog looked up at her with her big brown eyes, wishing she could understand. "We will meet again. You'll be taken care of until then, though, don't you worry."
The woman took a deep breath and lead her down a long hallway. They reached a room, with a strong smell, that made even the woman gag. She set the dog on the only table in the room, picked up a long needle with pink liquid inside, and promised the dog one last thing. "It never was your fault. I'm so sorry." Another tear rolled down her cheek as she kissed her nose one last time.
The woman took the needle and placed it in the her arm. The dog's eyes began to slowly close as the cold liquid ran through her body. It was over. She had lived her life. It was a scary and sad one, but she couldn't relive it.
More pits than you want to believe it live this kind of life... It isn't even their fault.
