They normally have simple designs, with a limit of four main colors, then one eye color, one nose color and one feather color.
The males (shown above) tend to be brighter, and the brighter they are the more of a chance they have of getting a mate/passing on genes. They are nocturnal, and the feathers do actually propel them to fly. Every winter, they fly north (they live in South America).
