This catches the attention of Ranari at last. “What do you mean? This is who I am, and why do you care anyway? There’s always the chance the past Carrier Spirits will choose someone else…”
“No, Ranari,” Kuzai tilts his head towards Ranari with sadness in his eyes, and Ranari picks up on the first signs of age etching his features; he had forgotten the age of his own father—how selfless, Ranari spits to himself, a light wave of guilt washing over him.
“It's nothing like that,” Ranari’s father continues, tilting his head towards the now orange sky, lit up by the rising sun; “You see, Ranari, there is more to being a Lantern Guider than what meets the eye—more to it than walking the average Makotal back to their home, more than rescuing a lost child Mako and returning it to its family, more than watching over the tribe and awaiting danger to warn the Makotals of.
“Soul Guiders,” Kuzai continues on, confusing Ranari with the new terms and sudden change in subject; more to the point that it was a subject he had never even been broached on before. Kuzai takes no hesitation to dive at his son’s attentive confusion, “Ranari, there is more after this life, you know that as well as the rest of the tribe—all our sister and mother tribes for that matter. You also know what it's like to lose someone you love,” Kuzai pauses, his eyes shadowed with dismay.
Of course Ranari knew what it was like to lose someone he loved. Hunters were everywhere now-a-days, and it was impossible to leave the tribe without running into one or at the very least picking up on traces that one had been there. Ranari remembers vividly one of his closest friends’ lives being brutally taken from them by the loud crackle of a long stick that the Hunters had wielded, and had with them at all times. Ranari shoves the gory image from his mind and retrains his attention on his father.
The writing above is an excerpt from the entry; or well an excerpt from an excerpt I should say llD
I'm quite pleased with how this turned out, seeing that I have never been good with canine anatomy. But I think this looks good, the colors are accurate--along with the design, and I like the over all feeling it conveys C:
It was a bit of a long shot going for a front-view, but I just took symmetry into consideration and did what I could C: Please correct me if any of the markings are wrong! <3
One of my faults I see is that I didn't really do the Mako's design justice, having its back turned away from view and hiding its unique marks. but oh well ^^"
Wish me luck guys, this guys so pretty ;u; <3
