(This is a very dramatic scene in an rp site I was on. Lynx and Striker *look in gallery for german shepeherd n beauceron* had pups, but Lynx went to find a cure for a Plague descending on the pack, and Striker...well...) Manami (standing pup), Seikei (lying pup pointy ears) and Ripred (by river) hadn't eaten for nearly a day now. Their tummies rumbled and their heads hurt. The young pups were too young to be able to take care of themselves, but it was easier when they had each other. Seikei lay by brother Hoko, licking Hoko's cold fur. Hoko hadn't woken up for a long time. Neither had sister Twitchtip. Seikei missed them. He wanted them to baby him, unlike Ripred and Manami, who were tougher and didn't want him to be babied. But Hoko and Twitchtip were No-Breath, like mother Striker. Seikei winced and felt his paws itch. The fire had scorched his little paws, and he wished he hadn't tried to save his bone. After mother had been still for a day or two, large clouds had rolled in and sent down large drops of rain. The drinking river had overflowed, and there was a flood. Twitchtip, sick and weak, had been washed away violently. Hoko, Ripred, and Manami had tried to follow her through the scary water. Then they had fallen into a cave and luckily there was a small stream that lessened the water's attack. But Hoko was also sick and broke a leg on the fall down. Ripred had pulled him into the cave where Manami's body had been washed into. Seikei found a carcass and shared it with his siblings. They each got a bone to knaw on, but then the water washed it outside, and when Seikei had run out to get it, lightning had struck a tree and it fell near his bone. Seikei had lunged to get it but got burned. Manami sniffled and stared at her broken brother Hoko and decomposing sister Twitchtip. Their bodies were sad and gross to look at, but she had to make sure that they would wake up. They hadn't. Seikei beleived they would, and she wanted to beileive too, but she knew in her heart that they would be just like mother, in a neverending slumber. She stretched and made sure Seikei was okay, then sat down beside sister Twitchtip. She closed her eyes and said a quick blessing, like they had for a dead packmate back at camp. Tears fell off her face, and she looked at Ripred, who was staring into the stream's bright watery reflections. Ripred watched the clouds shift and the sun's rays dancing on the water. His paw was sprained and the back of his head scratched up. He remembered leaving his brother and sister to find his father. He had found his father's scent and followed it intently, but they lived on a mountain, and he had started falling. He had luckily fell in a ditch that led to his brother and sister, but pain still lingered in his heart. Mother was dead. Twitchtip and Hoko? Dead. Father? Who knows. There was no hope. All the pack died...well, those that had stayed, at least. And friend Thistle hadn't returned. He, Manami, and Seikei were going to die out here. Like mother. Suddenly, all his pain and all his despair exploded inside of him, and he began to bawl. He was the strongest of the pups, gosh darn it! He didn't cry!
