This here is little Exel, a strange species from another world entirely. Although she has a loving home and many friends, she decided to get into the Holiday season and help others like her get adopted.
Even though science has not been able to give them a name, I call them Color Dragons, though this isn't their official name. Not that they are really dragons, but.. They have some resemblance.
About the 'color' part, well..

Color Dragons start out as oval eggs, smooth as river stones and hard as, well.. Rock. They are born in caves near the colonies that they live in, however sometimes are stolen by predators who were foolish enough to think they could break the egg.
Silly amateurs.. This means that they are abandon, making them likely to die from cold or lack of nutrients left in the egg. An opportune time for us to rescue them, might I add.
Why have the ones we rescued survived? Well, color. Quite simple, really. Once an egg is introduced to a potent color, it will absorb it and then use it to form the embryo and such.. Yeah, I think you understand a bit now. The details are a tad complex, so I'll simplify it. The parent's pelt will determine the fuzzy fur of the baby, but the wings, eyes, and tail spikes almost always use the color(s) they were introduced to as an egg. However..
In cases such as Exel, the egg gets too cold to form correctly, and the color used to make it hatch will leak into the fur, destroying it's original pelt design. Thus, the rare case of a plain coat.
More often than not these aren't liked all that well, but they're so uncommon we tend to not need worry about that. Since I've yet to give out any characters (and it's almost Christmas, how could I?!)
I decided to just give out some designs. At the time, I was sketching Exel, and thought "Hey, this species could be used to give away characters on.." Yep. So, if you'd like one, just fill in the form for that character. And if you'd like, it can be featured on my upcoming comic with Exel. ;3

These will be given away until Christmas. I'm not looking for anything fancy for forms, just something that you put effort into to convince me you'll use it as a character, and not just a collectable. Also, one per person for now. I may not make that many, so it's only fair. They can breed with other species, as well. Enjoy~ :3
