WIP horse art try

Postby bellidan4234 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 1:44 pm

I started this a while ago, and so I was trying to practice for an entry in a competition. So, the art's kinda out dated, and I couldn't quite get get it right, so I'm just leaving it at a wip. Of course, I'd love to try to do some more art here soon! Bay, if you want, I will have you added so you can look at it, and give me helpful hints for the next art try I do. Thanks so much! And even if I didn't get to finish, it was still fun to draw! c;

basically this was a practice for the barrel racing competition way back when, but anyone can still give me tips! (especially since I'm thinking of entering the Halloween barrel racing :P)

this is actually not bad ;)
your anatomy is to "My Little Pony-ish" is all and you pose is not bad but it is not quite... I really don't have a word for it but I can show you. I could redline it if you'd like.

yeah, I wanted a redline anyway, I just wanted to see how well I did with no help :P But thank you for the comments! I know I need practice onn that pose, for I used a picture from the animal stock gallery... and I see how you think it's not very realistic. I know, it's the eyes and a few other things, but I just love the way I draw things digitally. I guess I need to kinda back track from everything I've learned about MLP style on horses... XD I know it'll be difficult, but I'm trying! And maybe when I get better, I'll be able to make it more realistic! (even if those eyes will have to go... I'll be fine with that ^^ And I know horses eyes can be so cute even if they aren't like that c;) anyway, thanks for all your help, I've gotten better than when I was before, so maybe I can start doing even better ^^ And yes, if you would please give me a redline for a barrel racing pose like this one, that would be very helpful! ;u;

You don't have to go for 100% realism, either. You just need to find a way to incorporate your own style in with your progression as you become a better artist :)

okay, but I think I want to at least get close to realism c; and if that's all I need to do, then that's pretty much what I'm doing already! ;3 and with each piece of my art, my style changes slightly, so I'll probably meet the requirements easily! XD anyway, thanks for all your help Bay ^^

Sorry if I don't get around to the red line too soon, it's almost midterms at school…

I hope this helps!

It helped a lot, Bay. Thank you. I commented on it, so if you want to check that's fine. ^^ Also, thanks for getting it done so quickly! I was actually expecting it at least a few days from now. XD But anyway, I'll use it as a guideline, I'm sure it'll help me a lot (since seeing sketches for me is easier than looking just at a photo) In addition, I was wondering if I could save the image to my computer so I could trace on it a bit? I won't post it, I just want to be able to draw the correct shapes within the figure and draw the lines so I can get much better than a little better ^^ if that's not okay with you, I can just practice without the shape, but I think it'll help me even more if I can use it as a rough sketch to get better at my own sketches. But whatever you say is fine, and it was a lot of help on its own! ^u^
