This is one of my favorite pets on CS and I love the design.
I used no references for the pose, I just used my memory. I had a bunch of fun creating this!
EDIT: Well... I did something to my right hand and I am in a splint. So replies will be slow in coming. :P

A basic sketch to start off with.
Two
Got some simple lines down as guides.
Three
Did solid lines to test what they looked like. Turned them turquoise later.

Began to work on the final lines. Notice that I hit the circle next to the opacity control on my brush.
Five
I finished drawing the lines. Now it is time to color!

Colored in base color. I drew the markings on a different layer so I could hit 'lock alpha' and color them to my liking.
