well today i decided to tell the story of my mare.
on march 13 1999 a little bay TB filly was born into the racing industry. She was named Swordofthespirit. She has had 1 son i know of and has a tattoo, I believe she was trained in racing but her papers say "never raced". If the information i have gathered is correct she was taken out of the racing industry approx 2008 i think she might have been a brood mare. After that she was bought by a young woman and bonded to her. That woman was "her person" she loved that woman and they had an amazing bond, she was trained in hunter/jumper and was quite accomplished. Very tragically that young woman was kicked by a different horse in the head neck range and was killed on spot. Bailey was then sold to a girl who did not have the time for her as she got older, eventually and was kept in a mucky paddock and left unridden for a year. Thats where i come in. I am 15 and have wanted a horse since i was 5. I have worked at all sorts of ranches, even worked at a therapy place for a summer until a horse crushed my foot. After years of being told i was not ever going to be able to have a horse, or at least not while i still live at home. In our current and hopefully permanent situation i was able to convince my mom to look into it. After 3 weeks of summer with my friend in florida who has a horse i just couldnt take not having a horse any longer, also we were at the point paying for a horse would be cheaper then 3 lessons a week. So after a summer of looking we found this beauty and after months convincing my mom, she said yes. We got her with terrible pastern dermatitus, and very underweight with no muscle. So now after having her for almost 6 months i have bonded to her and even though she was not "abused" and i know plenty of horses are way worse of then her, she was neglected and misunderstood.
Thats what the picture is of, someone with a whip, represents the clear misunderstood neglect she has suffered.
i was told to have a running martingale on her and blah blah blah. I now have her without a martingale AND without even a bit. i used clicker training and she now has ground manners and is 100% less anxious. She is very smart and just needed someone to understand that, and communicate with her.
sorry its so long, i will be very grateful if you read the full story <3.
