I was browsing through some images of Pokémon, getting new ideas to draw. I spotted a Sylveon, the newest eeveelution that's going to be introduced in the upcoming X and Y games. All of the sudden, I decided to experiment a bit and search up the prefix syl- since every pokemon's name is invented through origin. And now I have a theory that I though I might share with the Pokémon fans out there. c:

Now, through my sudden research, I came up with something that could possibly be true. I know Sylveon's type hasn't leaked out yet, which just has many Pokémon fans guessing and questioning. From searching around, I believe Sylveon is going to be a flying type eeveelution, because as I said before, Pokémon get their names from certain words that mean something about them. Take Flareon and Typhlosion for example:

Flareon

Name origin:

flare
burst of fire
eon
relating to a long time and thus evolution

Typhlosion

Name origin:

typhoon
tropical cyclone
explosion
eruption, blast

Now, my theory is this!

Sylveon

Name origin Theory:

sylph
an imaginary spirit of the air
eon
relating to a long time and thus evolution

Now, here are a few facts supporting my theory: Sylveon's ribbons defy gravity in a way like they're floating and it's colors are a little too light to be certain types like rock, poison, ground, steel, etc.

In Pokemon Yellow there is also something called a Sliph Scope, it helps you see ghost type Pokemon, so it might be a ghost type too. =3

@-IzzyBee-: You know, I did happen to give that a thought while I was searching, but I stuck to flying since the second definition of Sylph was "a mainly dark green and blue hummingbird, the male of which has a long forked tail." That has absolutely nothing to do with Sylveon, but I just thought, birds fly, good enough for me! Cx

There's rumors of two new types being introduced in X and Y, maybe it could be one of those. My first guess was ghost-type as Sylveon doesn't really have any pupils. ^^

Lol that would be really funny Cx I believe a lot of people are talking about a light type(to counter dark types) but those are still just rumors and thoughts of what people would like to see. ^^ Although, there is a chance that Sylveon could be a ghost type(at the moment it could be any type for all we know! lol), you have to take in consideration that none of the eeveelutions really have pupils xD They all happen to have the same eyes c:
