It wasn't as difficult a task as he thought it would be.
Starting with his two daughters- Almasi and Ua. Almasi, though born after Mufasa died, was clearly not his daughter, although she herself believed it... and Ua was weak. She had been born a runt and was too tiny. Neither would do. They were females after all. Scar needed a strong King.
And then Ua's twin brother, Kijivu. He was a strong cub, but that mane. Scar had been plagued by his brother even after he killed him. The cub had a red mane sprouting from his head, clearly coming from Scars' mothers family. But he wanted his fathers line to reign supreme. Strong and forceful.
Nuka... the child was eager, but was also rather weak. Frail. Zira didn't provide a true heir like she wished.
And lastly, Kiboko, Sabini's son. He was strong. He had that glimmer in his eye. There was no need to look further.

Wow, this was fun o: Turned out WONDERFUL. Here featured, from left to right, we have Ua, Kijivu, Almasi, Nuka and Kiboko, all of whom belong to me minus Nuka.
It's ironic. Almasi is Mufasa and Sarabi's child, but Ua and Kijivu are Sarabi and Scar's children... Making Almasi their cousin AND sister.
And then Kiboko's mother, Sabini, was Sarabi's older sister, so they're also first cousins, but siblings through Scar.
Awkward.
