The steady ritum of a tongue of fur echoed around the small earthen chamber. A small pale green frog croaked quietly. A golden furred cat turned its head towards the small amphibian. "I know, Grove!" The cat meowed "I'm hurrying as fast as I can!" The frog stared down from a small basket that was held delicatly in the air by a large papery balloon. The cat stood briskly and entwined his tail with the dangling string that hung from the frog's balloon causing it to jerk sideways. The frog let out a squawk of complaint around the silver spoon it held in its mouth. "Oh, Mangrove!" The cat meowed, exasperated "Make up your mind! Do you want me to hurry or not?!" Not waiting for a reply, the cat ltrotted out of the chamer pulling Mangrove behind him. The cat stepped out into a great earth tunnel that had no end as far as the eye could see. "You're late, Helix" A rust voice caused him to jump. Turning Helix saw the mottled grey she-cat tapping her tail immpaitently. The young tom dipped his head. "Sorry, Elder Ulaura."
The she-cat snorted "You'll never pass if you keep acting this way!" she scolded
Helix bit his tongue. He had been trying for years to pass the upcoming test. If the test was passed the cat would be permitted to travel to the above-ground. He had never passed. The test changed every year and was increadibly hard.
