This is not a question for mittens, just an opinion: I personally don't like hamsters a lot, I have two gerbils and they are awake during the day, don't bite anything that touches them, have beautiful long furry tails, can bond strongly with their owners (If they have a good owner), etc. Also a hamster is very territorial and won't live in peace with another hamster or rodent but gerbils love having friends and there are even gerbils who live with mice instead of another gerbil . Hamsters are cute and can make a good pet if you have it tame enough to hold them they can be nice to hold since they are not very active but otherwise I like gerbils better.
