To be truthful, at first glance, it looks more like a dog.
The shading/lighting is quite good but I wouldn't say this is ready for intermediate, noting the lack of details.
To start, how about making the fur look shaggier and more realistic? Giving the eyes some texture? The iris should be more visible, I think. Do you look at pictures of wolves while drawing? That will give you an idea how the fur should look. As for a background, you have a good start. I like the effect you have with the shine in the corner.
Try making a dark background, with some trees and stuff in the background. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to look nice.
