Well, it is intermediate level, but mods please move this to contest entries please, I posted in the wrong forum I think.
For Blackhoeses... I made the pattern on the Great Dane from one that is quite possible, occurs naturally, but unfortunately this color pattern is known as a Fawnequin which is a prohibited color in the Great Dane world. That is an absolute (insert exclamatory word) shame because it is so gorgeous. It's the result of a cross between a Harlequin (patchy & spotted) with a Chocolate or brown coat pattern. I'm sure there are other crosses that get this outcome as well. It's like a calico colored Great Dane. It's not a recognized color pattern, so breeders of um.. champion bloodlines... if they get one of these in their litters they destroy them or spay or neuter them... what a shame. They are, after all, the same exact bloodlines, the same exact breed, why not just create a new color allowed, I don't get it. There are hundreds of these out there as pets but more are killed each year by breeders who don't want t he coat pattern to continue. So sad. Kind of a vent art at the same time as your contest entry.
Once it was done, I hated to mark it up with too much markings so I kept it simple. You wanted steampunk and I can do more steampunk like goggles for you but with the native American markings and the complexity of the actual coat pattern, I thought I should keep the accessories to a minimum. I think if I remember correctly, the hand print with an arrow is a sign for a shaman or medical man. He or she does have a simple light leather collar with a simple gear shaped (made out of a brass gear) closure and one gold backed ruby piercing in the left ear. Maybe a folded bandanna or something else light? Let me know what you'd like to have on or about it.
Sorry I cheaped out on the background but I can fix one up for you if you want. You know I can when I have some time available.
I will be happy to place your name on the color in section but as I do with all my lines, so you can create some other characters from it, but I reserve the right to use the lines themselves again if I'd like to.
I had fun with this, but was up pretty late as you can see. Oh well, my daughter's not home, so I can sleep all day if I want to.
