All my sympathies. I lost a baby sparrow much the same way. It was sad to go into the reading room and not hear his silly little "CHORP! CHORP!" as he started to beg for food. Or missing the way his little feet would curl around my fingers. I even missed his little bird poops. I am so very sorry you lost your baby buddy. It's just so hard with little wild critters. They are so small, and there's just so little to them that if even one tiny thing goes wrong, they go downhill so fast. You did the best you could, you kept him healthy and happy for as long as you could, and he was warm and safe, and I am sure he knew he was loved. Please don't beat yourself up. You did the right thing. You gave his short story a better ending than it would've had. You did good.
*lots of hugs*
