Mor'du

Postby Silverhart » Tue Jun 05, 2012 5:14 am

" It stands Twelve Feet Tall...
With Razor-Sharp Claws...
His hide littered with the Weapons of Fallen Warriors...
His face Scarred with One Dead Eye... "

Yup, Mor'du from the upcoming Disney Pixar movie 'Brave'. I'm so excited for this movie! I haven't done an Oekaki in a while, so I sat down and told myself "you're doing one!" And since I've been wanting to draw Mor'du for the longest time, I decided I'd try him out. He turned out awesome, if I do say so myself. Will probably go in and touch him up a bit later, because I'm starting to notice little mistakes here and there. Comments and critiques greatly appreciated!

I referenced concept art in my 'The Art of Brave' book, for his markings, since it's kind of hard to see his markings in the trailers. I'm not sure if this is exactly how he is going to appear in the final film, it's kind of a combination of the concept art and how he looks in what I've seen of the movie. The ref pics aren't the best quality, as I had to find pictures of them online, (kinda hard to scan a book) but these are the pictures I used:
Ref One
Ref Two
The hook claw thing was something I noticed in some concept art of the book, and figured it was too awesome to leave out.

Disclaimer: The character of Mor'du belongs to Disney/Pixar, quote above is from a trailer of 'Brave', art used for reference belong to Disney/Pixar, and were done (I believe) by Steve Pilcher.

June 7th: Fixed up some highlights and things which had been bothering me. I'd love to hear any advice on drawing bears, or shading. Fuzzy things are so hard to draw! XP
