Well I'm still not completely finished but I am having problems with texture so yeah....

Try this,
Use the spotted texture (the last one on the texture pallete, and cover the space you want texturized with the color you want.
Then bring the brush size up to a big size(to cover the most space evenly), select the smudge tool, (still using the spotted texture) Pull it slightly over the texturized area.
Let me know if it works.
