Second Wolf

Postby fallinglikeastar » Fri Feb 24, 2012 7:10 am

Started for a fursona competition entry, but I'm actually liking how the design is going.
The bird took me FOREVER, and I am not used to drawing wolves - as the title says, this is only my second one ever. I absolutely HATE how HAIRY they are! I'm not used to drawing shaggy! And the dang muzzle and paws, it's all so hard.

I've also never done designs/markings before.

I think I'll continue this one for myself, and somewhat redo a different version for the entry - change the lines a bit, new colours and designs.

And what you see has actually taken over 2 solid hours so far.
Probably quitting. Will be giving some pets away when I have the time...

Tips would be great - HELPFUL ones, like tweaking angles, making something rounder, longer, shaggier, not just 'make it better'.
I know the front legs look skinny and the paws tiny but I HATE doing paws and haven't tried to fix it yet.

I love your picture, you could tweak the angle of the front of the wolf to make it straighter

To make what straighter, exactly?

The posture. The markings (the bird etc) are so good how do you do them like that?

Sorry lol, I'm still not sure how you are suggesting I tweak it - like which direction.

As for the bird, I looked up some interesting designs and pictures online and just tried to draw it myself. I'm completely new to wolves and unique markings so I had to find some ideas. xD

Since then I've found some simpler ones that I could play around with; the bird was a one time thing - too much work.
