Hmm..this is very well done! And I love how you shared actual photos of the orcas you drew! I don't know much about them, but noticed in both your artwork and the photos that white marking on their back near the fin..is this something all orcas have? I'm surprised I've never noticed this until now..I guess I always assumed they were completely black except for the markings on face/front.

Thank you The marking behind the dorsal fin on the back is called the "saddle patch". Yes, all orcas have them when they are older (well, except for Frosty, but he is a white orca so the patch just isn't visible). Baby orcas don't have them or they are just barely visible as you can see here. Some saddle patches are grey, some are almost as white as the rest of the markings. They can be open or closed, hooked, notched or have a bump. How the patch looks depends on where the orca lives. You can see it here.
Ocean Sun actually has different saddle patches on both sides. On the left side (as shown on the drawing) she has a hooked saddle patch while on the right side, she has a notched saddle patch.
Saddle patches are a bit like a fingerprint. They are often used to identify orcas. Orcas also have the white eye patches, a white fluke bottom and the white side patches that connect to their almost fully white belly.
