Try texturizing the bird's coat.
Also, outline it with a thin black line, so it looks more real.
Texturize the background, and try to shape the bird more realistic. :3.

What do you mean by texturizing? sorry I don't have much experience. :oops:

give smudging a try, if you blend the colors real well, then it looks like fur or feathers. also, the texture is that large box with all the patterns on it. hope this helps ;)
