BIO: (196 words)
Some time around the late 1800s, Astarte was bred at a small Galingale Strider stud farm. Even as a filly, she was calm, confident, and clever — the last of which proved to be too much trouble for the farm's residents. Tired of her refusal for training, the farm's owner was desperate to get her off his hands... so, he conveniently left out these "faults" to potential buyers. When Lady Bastionwel would retell the story of buying Astarte, she'd claim she sensed a kindred spirit in the young mare. Correspondence from her staff indicates she more likely wanted a matching carriage team of black and white striders. Regardless, Astarte went into the Lady's care and gave the entire staff a run for their money. She proved to be an extremely talented carriage strider... as long as her motivation could be maintained. Otherwise, she gave no quarter. While Astarte became infamous among the estate's humans, she was instead famous among the striders. Her easy, confident nature and sharp mind made her a natural lead mare. She was down-to-earth and approachable — yet never too close. Wherever she went, the sly, unflappable Astarte wielded attention like a weapon.
