There is believed to be 3 Spotting genes S+ when homo will result in a solid colored cow, and when Het will express minimal white. Sp is the 2nd one, when SpS+ it will allow for a Degree of Line back but will be mostly confined to the belly and rump, and when homo (SpSp) it will show a much more solid and Prominent line back pattern. The last Spotting gene is (s) when homo (ss) it will cause almost a solid white cow white spotting along the side and body or a medium coloring.
