prompt answer:
For a long time, these two had a hard time learning how to cope with the powers they had at birth... Asinîs would often accidentally produce shards of stone that cut him and the family whenever he got excited or happy, and Asiskî would often leave mud and chunks of earth everywhere in mere minutes... After the sima twins aged a little, the incidents only increased in occurrence causing their parents to become very worried. Normally by now, kits would have gained at least some level of control over their powers, surely?
The concerned parents took them to a shaman, where it was discovered that they had somehow swapped powers before they were born. Everything in them, from personality to how they were built, was meant for an entirely different jewel power. So it is no wonder the twins could never control their powers, they were never properly theirs to begin with! Everyone simply assumed that the jewels would match the coat of the kit, obviously... However, the pelt and jewel mismatch was something they were happy to let slide, since they soon realized how much better off their kits would be with their
original intended powers.
The kits ended up being treated by the shaman, switching the jewel powers between the twins through some mysterious ritual. At first... everyone was nervous. Asinîs was timid kit to begin with, so they wondered how he would do without his stone powers. Asiskî was the complete opposite of her brother; rambunctious yet powerfully caring for others especially her brother. How did they react? The parents watched the kits grow into their own pelts. The mud that once covered the cave was now gone, and no more sharp shards of stone littered the tunnels. The kits were able to control their powers properly, and were learning more each day.
Asinîs found that he was able to sense more of the earth, which helped him feel more at ease with his lack of sight. Whenever the blind kit fell into a predicament, his protective sister was usually close by to run to his aid. Asiskî often found herself making small shelters out of stone where she would cuddle with Asinîs if he was feeling anxious. Nobody would ever know that the little spitfire had such a soft heart, since they don't let others around them.
