For as long as he can remember, Etienne has been beset by friends, relatives, and complete strangers who think he's the most adorable thing to ever walk the earth. They pat his head. They pinch his cheeks. And they exclaim very, very, loudly. When he was younger the little Togipede didn't care - quite the contrary! He loved all the attention he'd get just by existing and would sit in the spotlight, soaking it up! As he grew older though, it began to irritate him. Why couldn't all these people just... take him seriously?! He was cute, yes - they'd established that. Now could they all just... move on?! It seemed as though any accomplishment he made constantly took a back-seat to his 'cute widdle face'!

He felt so unappreciated...

So Etienne resolved to do something that no one could possibly think was cute. That is to say, he decided to earn everyone's respect by working hard and becoming a champion battler. He'd train until he was strong, he'd find a human who was bound for Victory Road, he'd allow himself to be caught, and he'd work as hard as he could. His trainer would count on him and his team would count on him - not because he was cute, but because he was strong. They'd see past his exterior and appreciate what was inside. And when he came back home afterwords, wearing his big 'ol Champion ribbon, no one would DARE call him cute!

Maybe he'd even pick up some scars along the way! No one thinks a Pokemon with scars is cute, right?
