Hantu will always remember his first Halloween on the homestead. He was new to the grounds and knew very little of them-- aside from the ghost stories
Poltergeist told to him. On the edge of the property sat a few buildings in a saddened state. Their crooked doorways and weeping windows creaked in the winds and the cold of the night. As if wailing a somber song. It was the old barn and house that stood on the grounds, now long abandoned and left to rot in the muck. Other buildings including a chicken coop and horse stable had long since fallen, their foundation sticking up like bones in the grass.
He always wanted to visit them but they were not allowed to go close, something about the safety and instability, but he believed it was the former owners and collies that lived on this ground. It was

Hantu and Poltergeist had looked at each other before she stepped forward, Hantu tentatively followed. They placed their paws in the windowsill, inside was as if someone had been living there, or, still was. Hantu leapt in first, the floorboards squeaking beneath his petite paws. His hackles raised. The energy was different in here! A sorrowful wail could be heard in a backroom followed by something falling, a glass or piece of china perhaps. Hantu yelped as Poltergeist heaved herself through the window, nearly landing on him instead.
Another shadow passed in front of them, two perhaps! They were tall, lanky, and didn't touch the ground they swore! As they approached a shrill sound filled their ears yet again. Poltergeist barked as Hantu whined at her, wanting to go back home. Suddenly two cats fled between their legs, they danced around them as they turned tail with them and left the buildings, soon to return home. To this very Halloween they're not sure if it was a true haunting, or just two felines living there. But that sound..
