When in comes to ideals, Junco has always valued friendship, patience, and kindness. In fact, all three things were taught to her at a very young age when she first stumbled upon some Dark-Eyed Juncos that lived around the village.
Being a youngster, Junco was full of life and energy! She loved to play and was quite a rascal, getting herself into mischief and troubles...but doing so would be so beneficial to who she would grow up to be, she just didn't know yet. One day she came across a flock of birds beneath an old tree, she chased them around, meaning no harm of course but it sure scared the birds. They quickly flew up into a tree above Junco and out of reach. They chirped and whistled loudly, some of them even flapping their wings rather quickly, Junco tilted her head as she sat at the base of the tree. "Junco?" A voice called out for her, "What are you doing?"
Junco turned around towards the voice and stood up to face them, it was her caretaker at the time, "I was playing with the birds, but they flew away!" She honked, her wings flattening on the sides of her head. The other Chicoon looked up at the tree and noticed the birds, being more experienced than Junco was she could tell they were a bit upset. She sighed gently and sat down by Junco, "They look a bit upset, I think you might've frightened them." She spoke softly, Junco was quick to defend herself. "I didn't mean to! I was just playing." She pouted, the other Chicoon listened and nodded. "I believe you, you aren't one who strikes me as having bad intentions...but the birds didn't understand your intentions." Junco looked up at her with a confused look. "What you mean?" She asked.
"Well, we are Chicoons, we have different methods of communication and expressing ourselves..." She said, "The birds do as well, only we're not able to understand them as easily, just like they can't understand us as well as they can other birds." It began to make sense to Junco as she looked back up at the tree, a few of the birds had calmed down and just sat in the branches all puffed up. A few chirped and chittered softly amongst themselves, Junco looked back to her caretaker.
"I understand...I hadn't thought of it that way, I feel bad for chasing them and scaring them." She said, her voice low and soft, wings still flat against her head. "Is there any way I can make things right again? With the birds." She asked softly, the other Chicoon paused in thought for a moment, soon nodding to her with a smile. "I know of a way you can make them happy again, come with me." Junco nodded and followed her back to their house.
Not too long after, they both exited the house, Junco walking at a happier pace with a smile, her ears up and fluttering. She felt better, and even more so with what she was gonna do next!
The other Chicoon set down a bag of seeds and made a gesture with her paw. "Just toss the seeds around on the ground, after we'll step back and wait to see what they do."
"I sure hope this works, it'll work, right?" Junco asked, the Chicoon nodded and smiled back to her.
"I am sure it will work...we also need to be patient."
"Patient...got it!" Junco honked and happily began to spread out some seeds, tossing a few handfuls here and there. When she felt content that they had enough on the ground, she gently picked up the bag and hurried back over to where her caretaker was sitting. She sat down next to her as the two waited, both of them kept very quiet.
After a few moments, the birds slowly began to fly down from the branches they rested on, they hopped along the ground and pecked at the seeds. A few chirped happily as more came down, Junco watched in awe and amazement. Once the birds were settled and calm again, Junco walked up to them. This time not running, but slow and careful steps. The birds didn't flee, but instead looked towards her, a few chirped quietly.
"I'm sorry for scaring you guys earlier, I didn't mean any harm..." She lowered herself to the ground with an extended paw, in her paw was some bird seed as she smiled softly. "Could we be friends?"
The birds glanced between themselves for a few moments, then one jumped onto Junco's paw and chittered, it sounded very happy! Soon more joined in with their own chirps and whistles, Junco beamed with happiness. She would never forget this day, she would hold onto everything she learned and promised to uphold these ideals in her future.
Over time, her friendship with the birds grew. She values it strongly to this day, even though she doesn't stay in her village for very long anymore...she takes what she learned and uses it when she comes across new birds or even creatures! Like Crew...being a parasite, just the thought alone might frighten most, but Junco accepted Crew for who they were and wanted to help them despite their differences! Junco strongly believes that being kind and patient with those around her can only do good, and if friendship comes out from that good, then it is even more worth it!
