Bird grew up with an old couple in the country side back in the day. They're not too sure what happened with their parents, but they don't lose sleep over it; his adoptive parents loved them like nothing else. Being farmers, Bird was helping their folks with their crops and livestock from before they could trot. With all that physical work, he grew up to be stocky and physically strong. Bird also picked up a southern accent and unironically loves old western movies. They can also milk a cow (which is a much less helpful skill than they thought it would be but hey, you never know.)
Bird ended up moving away after he turned 20 and travelled around for a bit. They tried living in the city for awhile, but he just couldn't stand the cars and noise and the awful smell. After about 6 months on the road he found a tiny baytown with an even smaller population than his parent's community back south. It was different than what he was used to, but he loved it. They were able to rent out a small little loft and find work at the docks carrying in shipments.
And that's where they are now. But who knows, maybe he'll get bored and drift off somewhere new one day. Only time will tell.

Prompt Response: this chicoon was born from a large black cauldron classically by a witch who was making a potion of companionship but then accidentally created this fellow chicoon with a couple oddities here and there. First this newly created chicoon looked goopy at first as they emerged from the glowing green liquid concoction but after a week this chicoon started to look more chicoon like and from the witch's embarrassment and not wanting to get rid of this fellow became the Chicoon's parental unit instead.

Monster and his Parasite Murky come from a town that despite the upsides of Parasites still turn up their muzzles at the thought of sharing their body with one. Monster decided they were a bunch of snobs and left with Murky to look for someplace that would be more accepting of his new friend. The pair didn't have a lot of skills before they left so they have learned together how to survive and press onwards with their adventure. They are hoping the Maze will contain the acceptance they were looking for, or maybe some of the Chicoons coming from all around to visit will provide the new home they are looking for.

Prompt Response: Belphegor's "origin" so to speak isn't known to anyone but himself and Nightmare. He came from further into the Cryptic Wood, an area the other residents of his new home in the forest haven't explored yet. When he was small, he came across a small, oddly-colored patch that looked like a puddle. When he got closer, the puddle moved and took refuge on his body! The puddle was his parasite, who he (obviously) later named Nightmare. Even though he now lives in the Cryptic Wood, he sometimes goes back to his first home, which is how he ends up coming back with even more parasites on his body, such as the one on his arm that resembles a sock. The other Cryptic Wood Chicoons have asked about it, but he refuses to answer, usually giving a simple excuse such as "I guess I stepped on one while gathering berries and didn't notice."
He also calls all of his parasites Nightmare because they look the same. Because of this, people have absolutely no idea which parasite he's referring to, unless he specifically does something to signify. For example, if he were referring to the first Nightmare, on his torso, he'd turn himself to make Nightmare's head more visible. If he were referring to the arm parasite, he'd lift it up. He's been doing this ever since he got his second parasite.

Prompt Response: Riley comes from a small town, located not very far from where the mysterious maze is. The town is a close-knit community, where almost everyone knows almost everyone else, it is like one big family honestly. Riley has one sibling, and two caring parents. The rest of the town feels like a bunch of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., and Riley has always been happy there. Nonetheless, they could not deny they wanted to go on an adventure (or several!) at some point, so when they learned about the mysterious maze, Riley just had to visit it! There, they met Par, and the two quickly became friends.
Riley is not famous for anything, though around the town they are well known for their big imagination. They enjoy playing pretend, and seem to always have some new story idea. The other kids around town like inviting them to play because they know Riley will make the game a lot more interesting with all their creative ideas. This has encouraged them to continue using their imagination and embrace their creativity.
Riley's creativity makes them an excellent adventurer- they are never held back by any ideas of the 'proper' way to do something, and they can be extremely resourceful, capable of thinking up new ways to use anything at their disposal to achieve their goals. They are also very friendly, which helps them when interacting with new people.

Dot comes from a small rural area where everybody knows everybody. She has memories of spending summers eating fruit out in the orchard and chasing butterflies through the sunlight dappled trees. It was very pleasant, especially for a chicoon who was quiet and a daydreamer. The time she spent running around outside would get her mind running as well. That's what she was known for in the area, being a dreamer. It wasn't a good or a bad thing, but maybe that feeling of indifference wasn't the best thing either. They did enjoy when she made music though, and everyone would gather to listen. Those from where she grew up never really noticed when she was around otherwise, but they would definitely miss her positive presence when she is gone.

Growing up with a gentle nature means that she has a lot of empathy for others - If her companions on the adventure get hurt, she will be right by their side to comfort them, offer them a song, and help tend to their wounds. She's good around a campfire too, she always has stories to tell in the hours when the group needs rest. Her grandfather used to tell her that stories could fix anything, a broken heart, a wounded ego - She could always find the right words for whoever she was speaking to.

Not having gone very far in her younger days, exploring new places was always at the top of her bucket list, and now having the chance to go on adventures was very exciting for her - and with her new friend Smile as well!
