Prompt:

Stripe bounces anxiously on their paws as they peer down the entrance to the maze. They weren't one to get easily spooked by things, but despite not even going in it yet, this maze puts them on edge. It feels like something's going to jump out and attack them. Shaking their head to rid themselves of that thought, Stripe heads into the maze with some trepidation. It was so... grey. It was like all the life had been sucked out of this place. The dull stone walls did nothing to comfort Stripe as they wander aimlessly in the labyrinth. Every hallway looks the same, and they're honestly quite worried they'll get lost and be unable to leave. Their wings droop in uncertainty. Stripe turns their attention to the walls for a moment, and notices a large crack running down it. They hope it was made by simple wear, and not some creature dragging its claws along the tile. Stop thinking about creatures, Stripe! They chide themselves internally as they continue on their way. They'll be fine. It'll be fine. Right?

Prompt:

Edith couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the large walls and empty feel of the maze. The flash of a silhouette only adding to her nervousness and uncertainty. What was in the maze? How big was it? Was there even and exit? The idea of never being able to escape quickly plaguing Ediths mind but what choice did she have other than to move forward?
With nervous steps Edith moved further into the maze. It all looked creepily similar with the only thing being of note were the small holes in the walls. Any attempts to retrace her steps would be difficult. Hopefully she wouldnt get to lost.

Prompt:

Cayde stood at the massive maze entrance, in awe of the stone arc and the illegible writing engraved into it. His loyal Gameleon companion, Jessie, stood by his side. Jessie shook a bit where it stood, clearly scared by the ominous structure.

“Whadda say Jess, should we go in?” Cayde said, turning down to look at Jessie.
Jessie shook its head wildly, barking in protest.

Cayde laughed, “Trilly is waiting outside, you can go hang out with him while I’m exploring if you’d like!” Not waiting for an answer, Cayde trotted into the maze, Jessie soon scampering in after him.

The entrance hallways into the maze were overgrown, like nature had started to reclaim them. Curious, as the structure had supposedly only just appeared. The tiles split in places, giving way to patches of grass oddly tinted by the blue glow around them.

Cayde stopped at one of the patches, gazing down the halls. Jessie took the opportunity to climb up onto Cayde’s back and hug around his neck.

“What is this…?” Cayde spoke mainly to himself, but Jessie barked in reply anyways.

montgomery entered the maze with fear and worry running through his head. the environment was certainly strange, but the chicoon felt compelled to explore. approaching at a fork, he decided to turn right and stick to that direction as much as possible, so if he were to get lost, or hit a dead end, he would stay left to retrace his tracks. he progressed through the corridor until he saw a flicker of blue light, stopping montgomery and causing him to catch his breath. ‘that was weird..’ he thought to himself. his pause prompted him to think about his surroundings. for one, the smoothness and eeriness of the place really startled him - he was considering turning back. despite it, he decided to continue, and after a bit of walking, he came across a dead end, and he was forced to turn around. a sign did appear on the stone wall, but it was illegible, so montgomery shrugged it off as a “someone was here before” type of thing. strange..

Haunt stood at the beginning of the maze, taking in his surroundings carefully. Surely he'd be able to get himself out again if he chose to venture in. He turned from the maze briefly, his wings flapping nervously. What if he couldn't get out again? He turned back and took a deep breath before stepping into the maze, taking a right first. Curiosity bloomed and took over the nerves that once had his heart hammering in his throat. He caught a glimpse of a blue light, darting down a direction he hadn't seen before. He gave chase but it led him straight into a dead end. His nose bumped the stone and he let out a honk of annoyance.

Prompt:

Dr. Xynth inspected the labyrinth suspiciously. What mysteries could this place hold? New creatures to study, perhaps?
Ah--! Oh, another one of those lights. It keeps disappearing whenever it looks at them. But this must mean something!
Looking to the walls for answers, Dr. Xynth notices large cracks in the tile all around it. What could possibly be causing this?! Dr. Xynth immediately decided that it must investigate further. No normal Chicoon could possibly do this much damage to a tile! Not to mention the fact that it's in a labyrinth - the last time Dr. Xynth heard of a maze or labyrinth was the story of the Minotaur. It enthusiastically followed the cracks, hoping to eventually find its source. If there were ever something it could possibly want to study the most, it'd definitely be a crazy monster from deep inside of a mysterious maze!
Before it knew it, it saw another flicker of light. Dr. Xynth decided enough was enough, and followed the light, continuing to follow the ones that followed the path of the destroyed tile.

Prompt:

Amani found herself in front of a large archway, she had no clue how she got here, or even where here was. She looked behind her, the path was very steep and narrow, it would be near impossible to go back that way, she turned back towards the ominous entrance, the maze was dark and damp, and she could've sworn she saw a tall shadow duck a behind the corner. She looked up, mabye she could fly out? Nope, there wasn't enough room to spread her wings. She looked behind her one last time before entering the dark passage. After turning a couple corners she saw a blue flash and ran to see what it was, but when she reached the corner she saw a dead end. There was a small hole in the ceiling allowing moonlight to shine down on a patch of grass. The tile was cracked and broken, she felt a bit calmer seeing that there was some light.

Ted meanders through the dimly lit space with little care, rubbernecking every which way as he takes in the strange space. There's not much in the area, just gigantic slabs of smooth grey stone and the occasional blue wisp they're half convinced he's hallucinating. Deciding to actually focus a bit on the location's details, they walk close to the only archway in the room, and stare at the wall. Oddly, there are tiny holes all along the wall, some not much more than a scuff, others rather deep as if bored by an insect or some kind of tool. "Well, that's pretty weird," he says aloud, squinting at the damage—or maybe the design? Either way, what a weird touch. [120 words]

Prompt:

It was cold and dark, an eerie silence enveloped winter's surroundings. He lowly yelped and one could assume he was saying 'hello?', hoping for an answer to calm his mind, but he got none. His voice echoed through the walls, signaling that this maze was no small area. Winter stood frozen to the ground as he thought to himself, 'how did he end up here?'. He vaguely remembered coming with a few other creatures but where were they now? are they inside the maze as well? With a glimmer of hope, Winter stood up and began to look around his surroundings, the entrance had walls as high as the ceiling so no chance of climbing up, there was a lot of rubble on the floor, almost as if one was at the dig site, and the walls had tiny holes in them. Winter could also faintly see something blue glowing, far inside the walls and peeking every so often in the corridors, almost taunting him. [169]

Prompt:

Aztec enters the maze, feeling confident. It's a dull greyish color, but he's used to stone surroundings so this lack of brightness and accent doesn't bother him much. However the walls are sleek and smooth, he can't find purchase, and being relegated to walking on the ground does set him on edge a bit. How is he supposed to scurry away if there's trouble? He sees lights and figures moving, but dismisses this as others also trying the maze. Continuing onward, he finds himself at a dead end. Drat! And so close to the beginning too...

Backing up a few feet, he turns left rather than right and finds himself now staring down a large corridor with cracked, broken tiles. Did something bad happen here, or is the place just a bit rundown? He isn't sure but the fact that there are little patches of grass growing here and there make it seem like things are in serious disrepair. He'd always thought that once he made his way to civilization that things would be new and shining but all he'd seen is that they break down wherever you go, whoever is tending them. All things were temporary.

That should have taken the wind right out of his sails but instead it urged him onward with greater fervor. Yes indeed, this too shall pass, he thought, making his way deeper into the maze. All things come to an end, and so will my time here, so best to enjoy it now.
