Cypher sits by the water at the beach and thinks about the latest card pull. Lately, the Tarot has really been hitting close to home. They reflect on how they have been hurt before by others, and how they have made changes surrounding the company they spend time with. This has made them feel better overall, but even so, some anxiety still pricks at them, lurking surreptitiously. A bird lands next to beach and begins preening its feathers. Cypher has not wanted to deal with these feelings, these barriers that they subconsciously put up as a means of self protection. If others don't know much about them, then they cannot use it to hurt them. As a result, they have made connections, but most felt strangely shallow or superficial. Small talk was nice sometimes, but they couldn't usually bring themself to open up about more personal things. The bird stopped and looked up as another bird landed nearby. Was it the act of sharing itself, the scary part? No... the times Cypher had been open, it had felt good to get things off their chest. The first bird began searching for food on the beach. Then what was it? Perhaps... it was a fear of feeling vulnerable? The second bird found some bread in the sand, the last remains of a sandwich someone had eaten. It would be nice to be more open, but what if it didn't go well? Should they take the risk anyway? Cypher looked up as they heard a rustle of feathers. The two birds had taken off, both with bread in their beaks. They watched the birds soar away in the same direction. It seemed as if the question had been answered.
