branches rustled and snagged in matted golden fur as meadowshine pushed her way through the undergrowth. the forest was quite dark given the clouds overhead, but small bursts of sunlight broke through the foliage to light her way.

she was attempting to clear her own path through the woods, but many of the branches were too firmly rooted in place to budge, even when she leaned her whole weight on them. this was definitely going to take a while.

So, the camp counselors wanted them to clear some new paths, huh? This sounds like a good idea to Haywing. With so many cats out and about, for what - nearly two weeks now?, he's been noticing how much harder it is to find things recently, how much further he's had to travel. It's fine for him, he's used to it; but there are cats in camp who even after weeks of hiking are still struggling to take such a long path. Not every cat was ready to walk so long, so far.

So, he decides to cut a shorter path or two today, maybe help some other cat clear their path. It would do them good to get some fresh paths in here.

Clearing new paths? Spiderbite pricked her ears at that idea - maybe it would make hiking interesting, if they were allowed to explore away from the trodden, still slightly ashen path they usually hiked down. The exploration would be fun, too! And just think of all the fresh, new sticks to chew on!

And, er, maybe keep a few to save as a camp resource as well. There would probably be plenty out there in the open woods!
